Documentation
From download to your first approved change, plus answers to the problems people run into most.
1. Download the plugin
Get the ZIP from the install page. It is the official build of version 0.5.0.
2. Install and activate
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the ZIP, click Install Now, then Activate.
- WooCommerce must be active. Without it the plugin shows a notice and does nothing else.
3. Create an account
Register at app.tricksbiz.com/register and click the link in the verification email. Do this before connecting: the approval screen only opens for verified accounts.
4. Connect your store
- In WordPress open WooCommerce → Product Optimizer and click Connect store.
- You are taken to the service. Log in if asked.
- Check the store details and click Connect store to approve. If the site was connected to a different account before, tick Move this store to my account and click Move and connect store.
- You return to WordPress with the message "Store connected". Products are imported in the background.
The connection uses a one-time code (OAuth-style, with PKCE). Your account password is never entered in WordPress. The plugin stores a store key and a signing secret, encrypted with a key derived from your wp-config.php salts.
The first time an account and a store site are connected, the Free plan's one-time credit allowance is added.
5. Optimize a first product
- Wait for the import to finish. The plugin screen shows progress, and scores appear in the Optimizer column on Products.
- In your account open Products. Products are listed lowest score first; filter by Needs attention.
- Open a product. Each problem shows what is wrong and how to fix it. Click Fix with AI on a problem, or generate a full content pack.
- Compare Current and Suggested, edit the text if you want, then click Approve & apply.
- Within a few minutes the change is written to the product in WooCommerce. To undo it, use Change history on the product.
For many products at once, tick them in the product list (or choose all products matching the filters), pick an action and start a bulk run. Progress is on the Bulk page.
Settings in WordPress
- Import all products / Import recent changes: start an import manually. Edited products are also sent automatically shortly after you save them.
- Test connection: checks the key and the service.
- Disconnect: revokes access immediately and removes the credentials from WordPress.
- Advanced: service URL (only while not connected): for development setups. Normal stores keep the default
https://app.tricksbiz.com. Developers can also setdefine( 'TBPO_SERVICE_URL', '...' );inwp-config.php. - Product FAQ tab: turn it off with
add_filter( 'tbpo_faq_show_tab', '__return_false' );and place[tbpo_faq]where you want it instead.
Low-traffic stores: background jobs run on WP-Cron, which only runs when someone visits the site. Run WP-Cron from a real server cron job for reliable imports and timely changes.
Credits and plans
Scoring is free. AI actions use credits:
| Action | Credits per product |
|---|---|
| Rule-based analysis | Free |
| AI attribute extraction | 1 |
| Single short field | 1 |
| Image ALT text | 1 |
| Short + long description | 3 |
| FAQ | 2 |
| Full content pack | 6 |
Credits are reserved when you request a suggestion and only used when a suggestion is produced; failures return them. Usage shows credits per action and per day; Credits lists every transaction. Each plan also limits how many stores you can connect and how many products a bulk run can include. See pricing.
Troubleshooting
"The service URL must use https."
A custom service URL was saved with http://. Open Advanced: service URL and enter https://app.tricksbiz.com, or remove TBPO_SERVICE_URL from wp-config.php.
"The connection request expired or did not start here. Click Connect again."
Connection requests are valid for 15 minutes and only for the WordPress user who started them. Click Connect store again and approve straight away.
"The authorization code is invalid, expired or already used."
The approval was used twice or took too long. Start again from WordPress.
"Store and return URLs must use https." or "The ping URL must be a public https URL on the store domain."
Your WordPress address (Settings → General) must start with https and be reachable from the internet. Local, staging-behind-a-firewall and private-network sites cannot be connected.
"Your plan allows N store(s)."
Disconnect a store you no longer use, or request a larger plan.
"This store is connected to another account."
Start the connection again and confirm the transfer when asked. Repeated transfers of the same site are limited.
"TricksBiz Product Optimizer lost access to the service"
The store key was revoked or the store was disconnected from your account. Click Reconnect on the notice.
Products are not imported or changes are not applied
- Make sure WP-Cron runs (see above). Imports and applying changes happen in the background.
- Click Test connection on the plugin screen.
- Security plugins or firewalls must allow requests to
/wp-json/tbpo/v1/pingand outgoing https requests to app.tricksbiz.com. - Products that are too large or of an unsupported type are skipped; the plugin screen shows how many.
A change shows "conflict"
The product was edited in WooCommerce after the suggestion was made, so nothing was written. Click Re-sync product, then generate the suggestion again.
"This action needs N credits; M are available."
Your balance is too low for the action. Check Credits in your account and request a larger plan if needed.
